About Immanuel Lutheran
Immanuel Lutheran Church is a congregation of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. We believe in making known by Word and action the healing presence of God in Christ Jesus with us, our community, and with the world.
History
Immanuel Lutheran Church was founded in 1896 and has always been affiliated
with the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. It was first located in Germantown, an
area later incorporated into the city of Danville. For a number of years, the
congregation was known as the German Church because services were held in
German. Later both English and German were offered until the German was dropped
altogether in the 1940's. For the 100+ years of her existence, the congregation
has supported a parochial school.
To this day Immanuel honors her traditions in her worship and, at the same
time, had demonstrated openness to non-traditional forms and sounds.
